First of all rinse the basket containing the raw rice under running tap water till the water runs clear from dirt present on its surface, then soak the r insed rice in enough water for 30 minutes before cooking. Now take a deep saucepan or pressure cooker, pour 2 and 1/2 cups of water in it for each cup of rice that you have soaked. Add salt to taste. Place the saucepan on high heat and wait till the water comes to a boil. Once the water starts boiling, reduce the flame to low and add the drained rice to it. Stir gently so that the rice doesn’t stick to each other and cook covered on low flame till all the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked properly. Once done, remove from flame and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving hot with any curry of your choice.
